JPCA’s Postgraduate Training Programme meets the WONCA Standards

The family medicine specialist training system currently operated by Japan Primary Care Association (JPCA) has obtained international certification from WONCA (World Organization of Family Doctors).
This international certification system was established by WONCA (World Organization of Family Doctors) for family medicine training programs based on the global standard for postgraduate medical education established by WFME (World Medical Education Federation). In October 2019, we received a site visit by an evaluator dispatched from WONCA, and on April 27, 2020, we received official approval after consultation with the WONCA Evaluation Committee.
You can check the evaluation result from here.
Until now, there have been examinations in regions and specific facilities, but Japan is the first in the world to receive certification at the national level.
With this accreditation, it is officially recognized that those who are currently certified as family medicine specialists by JPCA are those who have received international standard training.
